Metaphor
A metaphor is as direct comparison between two unalike things without using "like" or "as".
An example of a metaphor in "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell is: “The night would be my eyelids.” This is metaphor that is comparing the night to Rainford’s eyelids. The effect that this comparison has is that it is showing how dark the night was. It is showing that it was so dark that Rainsford could sleep without closing his eyes.
These metaphors are show that her eyes are fireflies and that it is not using like or as in their sentences so they are metaphor.
